I created the beams of light coming from the lamppost using yellow beads threaded only string, and reinforced the lamppost itself with tape and cocktail sticks.
The cigarette was taken fro my collage and was found on sight, I feel like it resembles fire because it has to be lit with a lighter to be smoked and I found these all over the sight. I exaggerated the flame of the cigarette (can be seen better in other photos) using red, yellow and orange paper and scrunching it to create a naturalistic look. I burnt the end of the fake cigarette - which is made of paper, and stuck the ashes below it.
I chose to resemble the bramble in my collage by using gold jewellers wire to emphasise the harsh, uncontrollable characteristics of fire. I created a barbed wire effect by using smaller pieces of wire and wrapping them around the main body of wire. I wanted the chase from the wire to be organic to express how fire can't be controlled.
I coloured cocktail sticks yellowed and orange to resemble the dogwood which is located on the lower part of the sight. I used beads on the top of some of the cocktail sticks to represent the new shoots. Cocktail sticks worked really well with the foam board because they could just be punched into the foam, so I will definitely be using these two mediums together in future.
The daffodils were made using a star hole punch, cocktail sticks and yellow and orange card and I think these were a really effective element of my final model.
If I were to redo my model or add to it I would add some texture and colour to the white foam board. I like the way the colours stand out from the white, but I think it is slightly too stark and harsh.
