Henry Moore was an English artist, renowned for his monumental bronze sculptures. However, he was also fond of drawing from his studio which overlooked the Sheep Fields at Perry Green. Using only a ballpoint pen and a network of swirling zigzagging lines to create his drawings which perfectly capture the essence of the sheep.
I tasked myself to re-create one of his pieces using a biro and one continuous line. I believe managed to express the character of the sheep well - I think this piece turned out to be interesting. I do know that my lines are far too 'neat' in some respects, meaning the sheep and its coat doesn't look as complex as it should. Some lines are far too defined and need blending and others are better. Overall, I am glad I tried to re-create Henry's piece, I will be sure to draw another sheep in Henry's style perhaps with a smoother ball-point pen to help my lines glide across the page.
