Recently, I have been spending some time working on my pencil drawing abilities for I know it is not my strongest media to work with. I took this photo at Barnwood Arboretum late last year, the tree trunk stood out to me because it was heavily sculpted. This sketch took me around 45 minutes and although it is not perfect I think it could be worse. I need to better understand how to scale a photograph to the correct size before putting it onto paper, and need to work on providing more details of line, shadow and form in certain areas.
