Aquaponics for the Wider Community -Oko Farms, Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City, USA













Oko Farms is a volunteer-run farm established in 2013, built in collaboration with the Moore Street Community and diverse group of individuals interested in bringing an outdoor aquaponics farm to Brooklyn. Serving as publicly accessible production, research and education farm, hosting a variety of workshops farm tours, and operates a weekly farmers' market.

The farm located along the East River, cultivates a variety of freshwater fish including catfish, tilapia and crawfish along with a wide variety of vegetables and herbs.

They offer free site flash tours twice a week from April till October and run community Saturdays Farm stand from July-October, offering a wide variety of affordable vegetables, herbs and flowers grown using their aquaponics farm, featuring apothecary items such as teas, body oils, herbal seasoning and other products curated and developed by their farm team.
