Bamboo whilst predominantly linear, with nodal rings ('bands') consistently spaced along the culm ('stem'), these culm's were intriguing, distorted, as though they had been squished, creating convexities under each node. These are likely to be caused by the density of the foliage increasing, several of these shoots had the same wiggly pattern mid-way up the culm, it was interesting.
The nodes on bamboo are important, they are where new growth occurs, and each have 'diaphragm' helping to transport water and nutrients across the culm because of their hollow insides.
Took roughly 1hr.
