Ranunculus asiaticus is the latin name for Persian buttercup, a species of buttercup native to the eastern Mediterranean region, southwestern Asia, southeastern Europe, and northeastern Africa. This herbaceous perennial species has an ultimate growth of up to 450mm, with long, sometimes branched stems, deeply loped leaves and cup-shaped flowers in red, pink, yellow or white with black centres in late spring and early summer.
